Yummy Yards is now accepting new members for the 2013 CSA!

Community Shared Agriculture is a global movement that is connecting consumers with their food producers.  Members pay a membership fee at the beginning of the season, and in return receive a 'share' of fresh produce throughout the summer and early fall.

Why participate in a CSA?
For small scale  farmers, assistance with capital at the beginning of the season helps to alleviate the financial strain that farmers experience before the growing begins.  By becoming a member of a CSA, you help support the livelihoods of small scale and new farmers!
Being part of a CSA is a wonderful way to learn about what is able to grow in your region, and connects you with the people growing your food.

What’s in a Weekly Share?
Share size and content will vary with the season.  All of the vegetables we'll be growing are listed below, so you can get an idea of what will be in your boxes during the various phases of the season.  Additionally, Yummy Yards will be offering the option of 'add ons' such as eggs, Okanagan fruit, meat and prepared foods which can be ordered ahead of time to be picked up or delivered with your CSA share!
What can CSA members expect to receive?
  • Fresh vegetables and herbs: everything our seasons have to offer!
  • The satisfaction of knowing your family’s food was grown right here in Vancouver by your own personal farmer.
  • Organic vegetables grown using biodynamic and permaculture principles in a environmentally sustainable and regenerative fashion.
  • Exposure to new foods, flavours, and food preparation ideas.
  • (Re)connecting with community members and our local food system.

Members are free to purchase any number of shares (one, two or three!) depending on their family size and vegetable eating habits.  Feedback from last year was that a share could generally meet the produce needs of a family of four, with some variability.  Our season will run for 13 weeks* from July through October.  We work very hard to make sure that each box is packed with

We are also introducing a 'farm support' fee this year to help share the cost of breaking ground on some new properties and additional infrastructure we will be building to house laying hens (our new weedeaters!)

*Additional weeks before the season may be available, but will be sold per week to interested members.

If you are interested in joining the CSA please read the CSA Membership Agreement and submit a CSA application on the CSA Sign Up page!

Note:  The cost of our CSA reflects a farm support fee of $100.  Should you wish to contribute to the continued success of our urban farm by volunteering or contributing alternative services, please let us know.
To join the CSA, please fill out the CSA Agreement Form.
